Artists of the Grid

My work is featured in an exhibition, “Artists of the Grid” at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs, WV. This exhibition features work that includes the theme of a grid in its visual composition. This show is from June 17 until August 17, 2011.

My Georgetown Series paintings are included in this exhibition.

The exhibition, entitled Abstractions, is a juried exhibition of artwork by 30 regional artists. The Juror is Joseph DiBella, Distinguished Professor of Art at Mary Washington University.

DiBella selected two paintings by Doug Kinnett for the exhibition. They are Georgetown Series #5 (Warehouse District) and Georgetown Series #6 (Foggy Bottom Sculpture Tour). Both paintings are oil on canvas, from a recent series of Kinnett’s abstract landscapes. They feature layered rectangles and bright colors, reminiscent of paper collages.

The Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts presents Abstractions during the month of May. This national all media, juried exhibit will be featured in the FCCA Frederick Gallery, 813 Sophia Street, Fredericksburg, VA. The exhibition opened May 1st and will run through May 27th. An opening reception and juror discussion was held on May 6th.

Abstractions is the second concurrent exhibition of paintings by Doug Kinnett, the other being an exhibition at the Galerie Myrtis, in Baltimore, Maryland, which has been extended to be on view until May 10.

Emergence: Contemporary Artists To Watch

Two paintings from the Georgetown Series will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at Galerie Myrtis, in Baltimore, Maryland.  The exhibition, entitled Emergence: Contemporary Artists to Watch features forty artists from across the country.

The exhibition is on view March 11 through April 30, 2011. Galerie Myrtis is located at 2224 North Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21218
