A new series of works by Doug Kinnett is titled the Appalachian Moderne Series. These small easel-sized, oil paintings, are intended to be viewed as a suite of four, where each is a variation on a compositional theme. The four works belonging to this series are titled Appalachian Moderne Series: "(Smoot, Dawson, Asbury, Alderson). The subtitles refer to small towns in southern West Virginia located east of Beckley and west of White Sulphur Springs."
