Doug Kinnett

Breakfast with Tang, 1997

Oil on Canvas

28 × 28 inches

"In the summer of 1969, Doug Kinnett was in summer school at Christ Church School for boys. As an elder student, he was allowed to come and go as he pleased. One very magical night, July 20, he watched the first moon walk on a TV in the study hall. The next morning all the boys in the school had breakfast with Tang to identify with the astronauts and celebrate the event. This painting is charged with the wonderment of this special moment in my life."
